The purpose of recent amendments to section 1950.7, subdivision (c) provides further support for Sherwood’s position. Section 1950.7, subdivision (c) now allows the landlord to retain a security deposit of up to one month’s rent for up to 30 days to remedy defaults in the payment of rent. 5
