[6] Amicus curiae for defendant Board suggests an alternative interpretation: "If ... the Jersey Maid provision merely authorized an award of the difference between the amount actually paid for milk and the statutory minimum milk price, then the modifier `if any' in the phrase `damage, if any' would have been unnecessary because there would always be damage in the amount of this difference. Rather, this language suggests that the provision authorized awards to the producer for additional damages suffered as a consequence of the distributor's failure to pay the statutory minimum price."
