        Plaintiff does not claim that defendant was an assignee, which would require proof that
Milton Reyes transferred his entire leasehold interest to defendant. (Vallely Investments, L.P. v.

         This type of subtenancy arrangement would arguably conflict with the Family Code,
which prohibits spouses from excluding each other from their dwelling, requires spouses to
financially support each other, and makes each spouse personally liable for debts incurred for
necessities of life during each spouse’s lifetime. (Fam. Code, §§ 753, 914, 4300.)
