484 charsHolding: Missouri Court of Appeals adopted the implied warranty of habitability for residential leases — the foundational MO tenant case. Held that the warranty is breached when premises are uninhabitable in violation of housing-code minimum standards, and that breach gives rise to rent-abatement and damages remedies. Codified as a matter of statute in part at Mo. Rev. Stat. § 441.500 et seq. (Tenant's Remedies Act). The warranty is non-waivable and survives sale of the premises.
