375 A.2d 221, 224 (D.C.1977) (plaintiff must prove amount of damages “with reasonable certainty”). Consequently, “where a plaintiff proves a breach of contractual duty he is entitled to damages; however, when he offers no proof of actual damages or the proof is vague and speculative, he is entitled to no more than nominal damages.” Roth v. Speck, 126 A.2d 153, 155 (D.C.1956) (footnote omitted).
